Ostomy Memories Walking

This topic is about the joys and benefits of taking early morning walks, especially for those with an ostomy. The originator of the discussion shares their experience of a peaceful 6 AM walk, appreciating the natural sounds and sights as the day begins. Here are some helpful insights and advice shared by others:

1. Early morning walks are ideal for ostomates because the weather is cooler, there is minimal pouch activity, and the surroundings are quieter.

2. Instead of using headphones, try listening to the natural sounds around you. The songs of birds and the rustle of wildlife can be more rewarding than recorded music.

3. If you can't go for a walk outside due to restrictions, spending time in your backyard can still offer a chance to enjoy wildlife and the beauty of sunrise.

4. As we age, we often gain a deeper appreciation for the complexity and simplicity of nature. Viewing all plants, even those considered "weeds," as valuable can enhance this mindfulness.

5. Having pets, especially cats, can add to your daily well-being and help maintain a stable routine.
