Closure, that's what they call it. I call it a reversal.

Since my reversal yesterday, I've been looking out the door of my hospital room at the nurses' desk. These M9 sprays have been sitting there next to the flowers since yesterday. So I thought I would share this with everyone.

I think because I used the M9 drops in my bag, I found it interesting seeing the spray there next to the flowers.

Anyway, I have already been to the bathroom and prepared for it.

I haven't farted yet, but when I do and anyone asks how I'm doing, I can finally say, 'I'm farting around.'

In recovery, they had a warming blanket that had something on it to heat it that I thought was a flat baseplate. Boy, was I confused! I thought a gigantic bag was somehow attached to me! I didn't get a photo, but it reminded me of those vacuum bags that have the opening sliding into the vacuum slot to catch everything. Now I'm thinking of vacuum bags being good for emergencies when you run out! (It's me being silly; I didn't take pain medication.)

So far, it's all good, and I'll still be coming here to report and see how everyone is.

Hi Deb,

As you can see, the outpouring of love and support from this website will help you to find the strength to lift yourself up and out of your current emotional situation. I am lucky to have my husband by my side through all of this, so I will not even pretend to know how you feel and what you're going through alone. I do know that I have great friends on this site and in my life that have been by my side, and hopefully you have many by your side as well. You do have a lot of new friends here. Please feel free to talk through anything that is on your mind. We all go through a confidence deficit when we go through an ostomy surgery. Our body has been marred and your mind feels that way sometimes too. It is tough to move on, but you will. You will be stronger once you realize that you are still the beautiful woman you were prior to your surgery. Hopefully, you can reach out to a local support group and find some additional friends in your same situation. It always helps to have a sounding board wherever you find it!

Thank you, everyone. So far, it's all still going well. I've been up walking around, and things are moving. They finally upgraded my diet, so I actually got eggs and toast.

No pain unless getting in and out of bed; walking is fine.

I keep forgetting poopy is gone and checking the bag. I have five staples and a bit of swelling there.

It's still strange using a toilet again.

Hopefully, this info helps anyone else getting reversed.

🫂 Hugs to my ostomates.

I hope your recovery goes well.

I also got my ileo due to colon cancer. They removed between 1/3 and 1/2 of my colon. I'll be curious how your recovery goes as your colon wakes up and starts working again over time. While I'm leaning towards not having my ileo reversed, I appreciate how others have and are recovering from their reversals, as it might change my mind.

Thanks, everyone,

I'm at home now and running back and forth to the bathroom. Trying to thicken the output and getting used to the colon working.

Hecate, I know how you feel about being hesitant, but I have a good doctor who says I'm good for it.

I think when things get back to normal, I'll know more if this is the right call.

I didn't mind the ileo unless it leaked, and the supplies sometimes nearly ran out. Having the option weighed on me a lot before this. It definitely is a lot to think about.

Colon-wise, I get polyps, and my tumor was in the bowel. I have yet to see if this does anything.

I hope this helps.
