Stitches out today - Post-op update

This topic is about the experience of someone who recently underwent a proctectomy, often referred to as "Barbie butt" surgery, and is now two weeks into their recovery. They are preparing to have their non-dissolvable stitches removed, as their surgeon prefers these over dissolvable ones to ensure the wound heals properly. Here are some helpful insights and advice shared by others who have been through similar experiences:

1. Stitch removal can be quite painful. Sometimes, if the wound hasn't healed enough, only a few stitches might be removed at a time to avoid discomfort and ensure proper healing.

2. It's normal to feel very tired in the weeks following major colorectal surgery. Activities like driving and other daily tasks might still be challenging. It's important to accept help from family or friends with things like cooking, childcare, and transportation to make the recovery process smoother and allow you to gradually regain your strength.

3. Finding a comfortable way to sit can be crucial during recovery. Many people recommend using the EHOB Waffle Cushion for sitting after this type of surgery. However, a coccyx wedge cushion was found to be unhelpful by some and was returned.
