Hollister Pre-Cut Convex Wafer Adhesive Covering Issues

This topic is about the challenges faced when using Hollister pre-cut convex wafers with a 1 3/4 inch flange, specifically the difficulty in removing the adhesive cover. The person who started the discussion is happy with the wafer's seal but finds the protective film hard to peel off without tearing the pull-tab, which often ruins the wafer. They are reluctant to switch brands due to the wafer's excellent performance but are frustrated by this issue.

Here are some helpful tips and insights shared by others:

1. Use auxiliary tape to create a sturdier pull tab:
- Apply two strips of strong tape, like Hippo tape, Duct tape, parcel tape, or double-sided carpet tape, on opposite sides of the protective cover. This allows you to pull them apart, providing leverage without tearing the wafer’s original tab.
- Avoid using weaker tapes such as Sellotape or ordinary masking tape, as they detach too easily from plastic.

2. Consider product aging:
- Some have noticed that both older and newly delivered boxes of these wafers require a lot of force to remove the cover. This suggests that the design might be the issue rather than the age or dryness of the product. However, once applied, the wafers adhere very well.

3. Weigh the benefits against the inconvenience:
- Many users agree that despite the difficulty in removing the backing, the wafer’s superior seal makes it worthwhile to continue using.
