Experience with Securpress for Stoma Care?

This topic is about exploring user experiences with the SecurPress Stoma Secure Device. The original poster is curious if this tool could make the process of securing a stoma wafer easier and less tedious than using a gloved finger. Here are some insights and advice shared by others:

- Some people use a simple cardboard toilet-paper roll to press the wafer instead of purchasing a specialized tool like SecurPress.

- SecurPress is designed to be used with the StomaGenie system. Here's a typical sequence for using them together:
1. Place the StomaGenie, which should be at least ⅛ inch larger than your stoma, over the stoma to collect any output.
2. Slide the wafer, ensuring its opening is slightly larger than usual, down over the StomaGenie.
3. Use the SecurPress to press the wafer firmly onto the skin.
4. Remove both the SecurPress and the StomaGenie.
5. If your wafer has a tape boundary, peel it up afterward.

- If you use a barrier ring, it will sit about 3/16 inch away from the stoma when using the StomaGenie, which might not allow it to fit as snugly around the stoma. The additional steps involved can make the process less convenient for some.

- For those who do not use a barrier ring or moldable wafer and are not worried about stool collection during changes, you can skip the StomaGenie and use the SecurPress alone to press the wafer.

- One user prefers using only the StomaGenie for easy cleaning and stool management, finding the SecurPress unnecessary for their routine.
