Seeking Waterproof Ostomy Bag Covers for Showering

This topic is about finding ways to keep a one-piece Hollister ostomy pouch dry while showering. The concern is that moisture around the seal can cause it to lift, which might require changing the pouch more frequently. Here are some suggestions and insights shared by others:

1. **Press ’N Seal / Cling ’N Seal Plastic Wrap**
- This can be used to wrap the pouch, but it works better when combined with a "bowl" style protector like the Stomagoggle.
- On its own, it might leak, so adding HyTape (a pink waterproof tape) around the edges can improve its effectiveness.

2. **Stomagoggle Rigid Shower Cover**
- Some users have had partial success with this cover, though a small amount of moisture might still reach the pouch.
- A helpful tip is to place a washcloth over the pouch before inserting it into the Stomagoggle to catch any stray drops.

3. **Amazon Disposable Adhesive Shower Cover**
- Many people have found this product to keep the appliance completely dry.
- After positioning, you need to peel off two white boundary strips to reveal a second adhesive layer. Removing it might require adhesive-remover wipes.
- If the pouch hangs over the waist, folding it upward can help the cover sit properly on the abdomen.
- Results can vary, as at least one user reported the flange still got wet.

4. **DIY and Other Ideas**
- A small homemade "shower curtain" can be hung in front of the pouch to shield it from direct spray, though it won't keep it completely dry.
- Wrapping a washcloth around the pouch and securing it inside a cover is another option.
- Some people change their pouch daily and use Press ’N Seal with HyTape each time, as their bags don't last longer anyway.

5. **Skipping Covers Altogether**
- Many experienced users with different types of appliances shower with the pouch exposed.
- Modern wafers generally don't loosen with water alone, though soap or shampoo might lift the edges for some.
- Most people simply towel-dry or use a hair-dryer for a minute afterward.
- This approach can simplify the routine and avoid the hassle of extra gear.
