1. Psyllium fiber, like Metamucil, is available in different forms such as powder, large tablets, and gummies from various brands. It helps in thickening loose stool and softening thick stool.

2. If you have trouble swallowing pills, consider using the powder form. You can mix it into smoothies, water, coffee, or any beverage of your choice. For example, Benefiber (inulin) powder is tasteless and can be stirred into decaf coffee.

3. Eating plain Cheerios, especially Honey Nut Cheerios, as a dry snack in the evening can help thicken ileostomy output for some people.

4. Some individuals find that eating 3–4 plain crackers, having a glass of wine, and taking 2 loperamide before bed helps firm up nighttime output.

5. While tablets may work for some, fish-oil gel caps often pass through the system intact.

6. Fiber gummies are an option, but be cautious of their sugar content and how quickly they digest, as this can vary among individuals with an ileostomy.

7. For general health, it's advised to avoid fried foods. Grilling is a better option as it allows fat to drip away, making it easier on digestion.
