I had my surgery a few years ago, and my ostomy bags never stick to me. I go through sometimes as much as nine bags a day. What am I doing wrong? Can anybody help me with this?

Hello S and welcome.

Where is your stoma nurse in all this? You will need to describe your process and setup for members to offer assistance.

I just finished reading the Ostomy Tips Book under COLLECTIONS at the top of the page. I did not realize how much information was there. It covers a lot

of things that people have questions about. Hope this may answer some things for people. Best wishes and stay safe

Try using Torbot Liquid Bonding Cement for ostomies. It will make that sucker stick like magic. You need adhesive remover to get the wafer back off, though. But it comes off easily with the spray adhesive remover or adhesive remover wipes. You can get it at amazon.com for around $14. It will stick even if you don't have a flat tummy. Just brush it on your wafer and then apply it to your skin, and it will stick even in the shower.

Hi S, welcome to the site. Yes, a description of your routine, such as whether you are washing around the stoma with only warm water (no soaps that have oils or skin softeners) and getting the skin perfectly dry, is helpful. If you have folds of skin, you might have to lay down so the skin is flat. Let us know.

I'm with infinitycastle on this one, and I use prosthetic glue, which is much more effective than the adhesive on the wafers.
Best wishes

You're just asking this now after dealing with it for years? What has your doctor or stoma nurse said?

I'm with Alex; how have you gone years without getting any help?

The torbot's bonding cement mentioned by infinitycastle is great if your problem is related to the adhesive. But we really need more information to give you good advice.

Are you leaking, or is the appliance just not sticking? Do you have scars or skin folds that may be interfering? What is your setup? The more you tell us, the better advice we can give.

Are you using a 2-piece system? Check out the website for Vegan Ostomy, as the guy shows how to do everything. The only thing I do differently is cut my flange a thin dime's width from my stoma; otherwise, I get leaks. Hollister has a template you can print if your stoma is oval-shaped.

Have you talked to your stoma nurse at all? That many times a day sounds way over the top. The next stop will have to be your stoma nurse.
