Strange Shapes in My Stoma Output - Any Ideas?

This topic is about someone noticing small, macaroni-shaped pieces in their stoma output, even though they haven't eaten any pasta. They reached out to others for insights since their healthcare providers couldn't explain it. Here are some possible explanations and tips:

1. Undigested food is often the culprit. Foods like vegetables, fruits, bread, asparagus, green onions, cabbage, and onions can look like pasta if not chewed thoroughly. Make sure to chew your food well to help with digestion.

2. Medications might also be the reason. Gel caps, capsules, and extended-release or time-release tablets can sometimes pass through the digestive system without breaking down completely. Check if any of your medications match what you're seeing.

3. Marshmallows, which some people use to slow down output, can sometimes appear almost whole in the output. Chewing them well can help.

4. It's quite common for ostomates to see occasional chunks or stringy items in their pouch. This is usually normal and not something to worry about.
