Swimming with a Stealth Belt - Any Feedback?

This discussion is about someone who wants to get back into exercising and is considering swimming as their activity of choice due to joint issues. They are thinking about using a Stealth Belt, which is an ostomy support belt, and are seeking feedback from people who have used it while swimming.

Here are some insights and advice shared by others:

1. The person has not yet tried a Stealth Belt and is concerned it might be too much hassle to use.
2. They are worried about their pouch filter clogging, especially if turning the pouch sideways inside the belt could cause more problems.

Advice and experiences from others include:

- Inserting the pouch into the Stealth Belt can be more complicated than expected, as it might be awkward to fit the appliance into the belt.
- The standard Stealth Belt requires wearing the pouch horizontally, which can:
- Disable or "kill" most pouch filters.
- Be inconvenient for people with an ileostomy.
- At least one user finds the belt very comfortable once it is on.
- There is a vertical version of the Stealth Belt that keeps the pouch upright, and someone has ordered it to try out.
- For those considering alternatives to the belt while swimming:
- A simple bandeau wrap can be worn, allowing the appliance to get wet.
- Waterproof tape can be added around the flange for extra security.
- High-waisted swim trunks can help hide and support the pouch without needing a specialized belt.
- The main place to purchase a Stealth Belt is from the manufacturer’s website.
- Satisfaction with the Stealth Belt varies; some people use it only occasionally, and at least one person is willing to give theirs away, suggesting it might not be ideal for everyone.
