About
I had emergency surgery due to ulcerative colitis in June 2013. I went in for my reversal surgery in November 2015. Unfortunately due to severe scar tissue they were unable to form a j pouch. So I now have permanent ileostomy. It is coming up to 8 years since my initial surgery. Mentally it has taken time to adapt and accept my bag for life. I am at the point where I don't really think about it much anymore. I never imagined myself saying that. I honestly felt like my world had collapsed. Looking back I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I basically eat what I want and have had no serious complications.
In hindsight, it has given me a push to look at life from a different perspective. I can honestly say I believe I am better person for it.
I would love to chat to other ostomates, who maybe at a different stage of their stoma journey or basically just a general chat about interests.
I love live music, especially rock. I play the guitar (not very well). I enjoy riding trails on my mountain bike and hitting the road on my motorbike.
I am also fortunate to have a job I love, most days.
