Meet & talk to fellow OstoMates 20,339 members

Prior to my surgery and losing my husband,I was very active...I played golf several times a week, bridge, mahjongg, sat on several committees, and loved to travel. I love cruises and spend a few days a month in the casino. I enjoy people, but don't have any trouble keeping myself occupied.

I had emergency surgery March 27, 2010 and while I was in the Intensive Care Unit, my husband of 45 years passed away. I not only am trying to deal with my ostomy, I also am trying to deal with the fact that I am now alone. The whole episode is so surreal, I sometimes feel I am in a nightmare and will wake up any minute. I really need people to talk to about my ostomy, as I find myself afraid to do anything and am spending too much time alone in the house.
