What to say about me?

My colostomy is a result of Stage III rectal cancer. It had spread to my pelvic floor and as a result I had all the tissue there cleaned out and my left abdominal muscle rotated down to create a new pelvic floor. (So, yes I am trying to thrive with just the abodominal muscle on my right which is compromised by the ostomy)

Other than work, my life centers on three areas. My three kids (Oldest 14, youngest 7), music (I play drums and love listening to all types of music with my favorite being jazz) and athletics (I love to race triathlons and will watch just about anything)

I have found this site to be the best resource out there for both information on how to truly live with an ostomy.(as opposed to merely existing) The advice out there has been invaluble during the journey back to my old active lifestyle. I've come a long way from my most recent surgery on November 1, 2010 to racing my first post-ostomy triathlon June 11, 2011.

Of course there will will constantly be new challenges as an ostomate, but I'm comfortable they will be overcome with perserverence and support/advice from this great community.

If you think my experience might be able to help you just drop me a line.
