Yes, I tried, and it seems to make the bag stick together and make things worse. I'm looking for help on this too. Maybe put water in it to rinse out. I haven't tried that, but I keep saying I will. I have an ileostomy and high output, so I empty my pouch 20 times a day.

I've used the soft convex Sensura Mio exclusively since my first OCN appointment after leaving rehab. In the last few months, as my output has changed from liquid to semi-solid, I've begun to have pancaking issues. It seemed that the unique Sensura filter was contributing to the problem, as output would plaster it down. I now cut out the plastic pre-filter, leaving only the carbon disc. The filters never worked anyway, and removing it has seemed to help.

I’d like to write a nice review
that might express something quite new.
Then I read previous points of view,
which said the things I wanted to.
I would endorse the things I’ve read
about what other folks have said,
for these are the benefits and things
that joining a site like this can bring.
When I was an initiate, (novice)
it seemed to be appropriate
to express myself in rhyme
as this is how I spend my time.
When contemplating what to write
with contributing to this site,
it seemed to me, my ostomy
could be expressed in poetry.
Thus, when I had something to say,
a rhyme, for me seemed the best way,
for rhymes can often capture stuff
that prose don’t capture quite enough.
I do appreciate the way,
this site lets people have their say
in whatever mode they will
about the things that make them ill.
There are not many forums for
discussing stuff most folks abhor.
So, this site fulfils a small niche,
where angst and problems can unleash.
Where raw emotions can decant,
so, folks feel free to have a rant,
and we can all associate
is something I appreciate.

I have considered cutting out the pre-filter, but I'm afraid that if I cut it, that might somehow make it leak. Do you find it difficult to cut? I use the 1-piece Sensura Mio. I'm not sure I can get scissors inside to remove the filter. We tried the 2-piece system, but the outlet is a little bit stiffer and harder to cork up.

I use a one-piece, as well. I carefully pull the filter through the stoma opening, taking care to gently separate the lower connection to the bag. I use my blunt-ended ostomy scissors to reduce the chances of puncturing the bag. I make a cut to the pre-filter, leaving the charcoal filter and a bit of the pre-filter in place. There's a sponge material in the pre-filter, and I pull out the bits that remain on the sides. When done, gently push the charcoal filter back through the opening and smooth it into place. Coloplast does offer a pouch without the filter, but not in the pre-cut stoma size I need. You might give their customer service line a call; they're great to work with and can help find a workable solution for you.
