hi my name is jenni and i am 30 years old. i have had my colostomy since last august. It was last resort after having surgery to try to correct a prolapsed rectum. My surgeon said that the sphincter muscles had gone competely. Anyway i am now just about used to dealing with the colostomy , although i have to change it more regular than i would like-mostly three times a day. Is this normal? Anyway my problem now is that i am continually incontinent with my badder. I have to wear prescription pads so feel like a baby. i am about to have urodynamic tests done. I hope that this will give the consultant some answers. I am worrried that i will end up with a bag for that too. At least it would mean i would never have to go to the loo ever again. Is there anyone out there who has the same difficulties as me and would be willing to talk to me about it? i was wondering if it was quite usual for the bladder problems to occur after having the colostomy done.. I didnt say before but my colostomy is permanent. These problems are seconary as i have hydrocephalus and have had loads of surgery for it. Anyway i shall stop talking now and hope to hear from anybody. Thanks jenni

Hi Deb,
As you can see, the outpouring of love and support from this website will help you to find the strength to lift yourself up and out of your current emotional situation. I am lucky to have my husband by my side through all of this, so I will not even pretend to know how you feel and what you're going through alone. I do know that I have great friends on this site and in my life that have been by my side, and hopefully you have many by your side as well. You do have a lot of new friends here. Please feel free to talk through anything that is on your mind. We all go through a confidence deficit when we go through an ostomy surgery. Our body has been marred and your mind feels that way sometimes too. It is tough to move on, but you will. You will be stronger once you realize that you are still the beautiful woman you were prior to your surgery. Hopefully, you can reach out to a local support group and find some additional friends in your same situation. It always helps to have a sounding board wherever you find it!
