Hello everyone, and I'm trying to figure out a few things and just ask a few questions first! Is that okay? 😊

How's everyone feeling? I'm never here, but I came in to say hello to everyone, and maybe we can text and chat about a couple of things on my mind!
1. Does anyone do protein shakes? What do you use? What is your diet? I have issues with everything I eat, and I'm not new; I just haven't been here much in years!
I have questions and pray to get some advice from all you beautiful people who care and understand what we all go through and deal with on a regular daily basis and things we all can, or have to deal with or not. What foods can you eat without a problem? I have to say I'm so thankful and grateful already for coming in here and chatting with all who care, and we all can help each other on a daily basis for a better quality of life, kindness, and respect for everyone, friends, family, and love ❀️, and respect and help with everything we can do for everyone that wants to help each of us if you can give good advice, any advice to help all!
I have an ileostomy and two hernias and deal with all foods, like dairy, fruits, and vegetables, and I feel like it's nice to text and give advice to those who want to do this! Yeah, happy to hear from you all, and please let's help each other, and I hope we all can give good advice if nothing else! Please

Thank you for everything you all can do to make all of us maybe feel good, better, special, and healthier, and trying different stuff and things like stretching πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ and light exercise and stuff like this to help me and all who want to participate. It's been years since I've been here, as I said, and I don't even remember what I wrote as I came to say hello and let's help each other! Happy 😊 to hear from you all, and I pray πŸ™πŸ» that people are here with my thoughts too, and let's all help and enjoy 😊 Thank you for everything in advance!
To those who remember me πŸ˜Šβ€οΈπŸ€— hello, and I hope you're all feeling good 😊 and let's HELP! We all know anxiety and all that stuff too, as I was only thinking about all this, and if you have ideas or don't like my ideas, please understand I appreciate any advice and respect, as I can do my best to help and give good advice! I came in to say a few words and will come back to say more! I'm trying to figure out ways to get others' attention to help each other more in any way, even if it's a text, good morning, and enjoy your day. Questions? Okay, I'm here to listen. I can go on and on, but I need to do eye drops and go to sleep; it takes time to fall asleep. 😴 Hope you all that are interested, and good night, my friends! Hope you're having a great 😊 start to your day! Thank you for reading, and thank you for being you! Victoria

Well, my day started a little weird. I woke up with a small leak. I threw the sheets in the washer. I went downstairs for breakfast. It was still dark out. I thought it was 11:00 AM, but it was 11:00 PM. I ate my breakfast and got in the tub. I was sure a new day had started.

I am a big smoothie consumer. I usually have one a day, usually for lunch. What I use is cold-pressed vegetable juice. To that, I add blueberries, a banana, a couple of tablespoons of high-protein Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon of peanut butter, a teaspoon of protein powder, and sometimes a teaspoon of honey. It makes a little over a pint in my machine. It's filling and easy to digest.

Hello XNine,

Yes!

This can happen... IMHexperience. It means you had a really good deep initial sleep and woke from that aware of the leak... and so 'addressed' the leak in 'autopilot' - hence, while although physically up and about, your 'sleep' for you had been deep, and thus you went into 'Morning Mode'.

Good to have awoken before the 'leak became any worse' and you were able to 'save' the bedding promptly!

I have a colostomy but follow a full liquid low-residue diet most of the day with a light low-residue dinner of solid food. It's a long story...

Anyway, I eat a lot of Greek yogurt and protein shakes during the day. I buy the Premier Protein and Fairlife brands. Ensure is good; I had that in the hospital, but it's a bit pricey.

I sometimes make protein shakes. I use whey protein, a generic Meijer brand chocolate/peanut butter flavor, with oat milk and ice. Sometimes I add Greek yogurt to it and creamy peanut butter. Sometimes I add an avocado to make it creamy. Avocado doesn't really have a flavor, so it doesn't disturb the flavor of the shake; it just makes it creamy. I prefer these over pre-made protein shakes. I like to have control over what goes into my protein shakes. I can't eat berries, so I can't put much fruit into my protein shakes. That is why I picked peanut butter chocolate-flavored whey protein powder to give flavor.

Hi, I'm here now and then, but this topic interests me! So welcome back and hope you're well!

Just for a bit more clarity, what issues are you having? Thick/loose output, discomfort,  etc?

I use protein powder everyday, multiple times a day, but not I'm the form of shakes. Recovering from a previous eating disorder diagnosis, I try and better myself with what I eat, and because of the benefits protein can provide (e.g. maintain muscle mass, which in turn helps with many aspects of life), I could rationalise foods that contains protein - and have since, allowed myself other foods that aren't necessary protein based.

After discussion with a nutrition team, they want me to stick with the breakfast and lunch as it helps me maintain. Breakfast: porridge pot (contains dried milk, so just need to add water) with protein powder, Lunch: Weetabix with protein powder, soya milk and then a yoghurt. (Dinner varies, but we'll focus on breakfast/lunch based off the thread topic).

I have a high output ileostomy and am very restricted to what I can eat, as surprisingly,  despite being high output, it often ends up thick, and not manageable. I have a drainage bag attached to my stoma bag, and output needs to therefore drain, which it can't do when thick.

I add protein powder to these meals to add extra nutrition, to ensure I don't slip with my health (lose too much weight). It means it Blends together, without having to find other foods and wondering if they will digest or cause chunks to come out (even of I chew a lot, it binds back together during digestion). I still still a lot so clumps of the powder don't stay put. Also, I've used different powders and they can all affect output differently. So you may need to shop around (I honestly look for the cheapest, and where I get mine, I've found it to actually taste one of the best!

You may need to shop around, look online, with what you are comfortable spending (can get very expensive - but for me, I use it a lot and is helping my health and preventing extra measures being taken! And you need to find one you actually enjoy the taste of, it's not worth punishing yourself with something you can't stand the taste of!

Not sure if any of this helps,  but I hope you find some answers that help you out!

Hi, Victoria,

I have an ileostomy for 9 months now and am still learning the foods I can eat.  Some of the protein shakes I use are Fairlife and have used Premier Protein but also Ensure Max Protein (it is more expensive than most of the others.)  I check the ingredients before I try them to make sure there isn't anything in there that might night agree with me.  I'm trying to stay away from pea protein which some of them have.  I have done some smoothies with my Nutribullet but I'm kinda lazy and don't want to go to the trouble of that all the time.  Hope this helps some.

I find many protein drinks to be too sweet. I buy Orgain brand from Costco, and mix half chocolate protein drink with same amount of low fat milk. I shake it with some ice. Tastes good and provides a decent amount of protein. All the best to you.

Left Kyoto at 10:30am for Osaka.  Left Osaka at 1pm.  Arrived at Haneda at 2:30 pm & took a bus to Narita.  Left Tokyo at 6:30pm & arrived DFW at 5:30 pm.  So dazed, I thought it was 5:30 am & hit Starbucks.  Nice barista laughed:  It's 5:30pm!  WAAAA!   I found a seat at my last gate & slept for over 2 hrs.  Flew to IA & got home at Midnight.  I couldn't move for almost 3 days.   In the words of Bill Clinton:  I Feel Your Pain!
