What's the best appliance to use when wearing your shirt tucked into your pants?

I wear the horizontal stealth belt. I only have a urostomy, so I'm not sure how it will work with a colposcopy.

As far as which bag is most comfortable, that would be a personal choice, but I would think most would be about the same. If you're looking for a belt or wrap to hold your bag and then tuck your shirt in, I'd personally go with a wrap, but that's just my opinion.

This site has been a blessing for me in learning how to cope with and navigate this journey as an ostomate. I have a colostomy as a result of a perforation in my colon since May of this year. I don't know yet if it will be permanent or reversible. The people on here have provided me with so much advice and information about living with an ostomy that I don't think I could get anywhere else. You all have given me hope and a place to come to for support. I still struggle with acceptance, but know that it will come if I am patient. Patience has never been my strong suit! Also, I love all the humor, although it really pissed me off when I first came on here. Thanks to all of you.

Hi jb,

If you're asking which stoma guard or cover is best to wear so you can tuck your bag into your pants without choking it off, it's hard to say, as there are so many of them, and everybody is so different. I'd just Google "stoma protectors and covers" and see which one makes the most sense for you. There are no bags with built-in covers or shields that would let you wear a belt or tight pants over them that I'm aware of. You could, of course, just wear your pants loose and use suspenders to keep them up rather than a belt. That would keep the pants or belt from strangling your bag and stopping flow.

I tried stoma guards, belts, etc., but they can be cumbersome and uncomfortable. Now I just wear level 1 support boxers; they stretch while holding my bag secure and offer a little protection from getting a hernia, with high-waist trousers that sit above my stoma.

Suspenders are very comfortable with a stoma and bag. No problem with tucking in your shirt. Plus, they're a great conversation piece.

I gave up on tucking shirts in, the restriction on my bag, the limited movement, plus it was uncomfortable. I wear a Nu Hope support belt under my pants and an Ostomy Secret support stocking over my pants. The bag is free to move as needed with me and is easily covered by sweaters, long sleeve T's, regular T's, and so on. There are rare occasions where I have to wear a button-down shirt; I wear the same items above and tuck the support stocking under my pants/belt and tough it out.
