I came off Medicare's "Home Health Care" program (post colostomy) about ten days ago and am still trying to arrange for continuation of my monthy supplies. I wasted a week signing up with one company only to be told they don't take Humana Gold (medicare management) insurance. If anyone is on Humana and can recommend a supplier, PLEASE give me the info! Many thanks in advance!

Hello DL....I also have Humana Gold Choice.  I get my supplies locally (Ohio) from a pharmacy that also sells home medical equipment, diabetic and ostomy supplies.  Maybe there's a pharamacy near you that sells ostomy supplies.  Also, I used to get my supplies from a company called Edgepark... www.edgepark.com.  I hope this helps.  Best of luck...  Linda

After I got my ostomy I found this site and got a lifetime membership. I have had so much help from the core members, things that even the wound care nurses didn't know. If you haven't been through this journey you don't know - only the people that have experienced this first hand truly understand what your going through. The support is enormously helpful getting through this. Afterwards when you start to learn how to deal with this new normal you can begin to help others.  ...mtnman.

Hi
You might check with Edgepark, huge company and decent service.  they can tell you whether or not that insurance is accepted.

You can also call the member services on the back of your Humana card, they should (after numerous connections and phone transfers

) also be able to tell you.

Your primary care MD should also have someone who can help you with this, as you will most likely need authorization and the primary MD (or whoever used to sign your prescriptions with this) will have to provide the request with your order numbers etc to Humana and the contracting company to submit for authorization.

Miserable system we have in the US...but once you are in it is easier and should be able to get a 3 month supply at a time.  Good luck!

I use 180Medical. This company was founded by and still owned by a colostomy and he employs other estimates. They will get anything I want, even if they don't currently carry it in inventory. And I receive my within 48 hours. I am in Humana for Texas, which may have slightly different benefits than your Humana. 180Medical is headquartered in Oklahoma City, but I believe they do business nationwide.
