Hi

Just found this site trawling the net for a little up-to-date info on urostomies and found it very interesting.

Have had my urostomy for over 30 years (had it at age 16) and though it was traumatic at the time, I have lived and continue to live a very full life with my little baggy! I travel a lot, have done scuba, gliding, horseback riding, swimming, and though I have had some disasters, I can usually laugh and shrug it off. I guess it's about having the right state of mind, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...........

I tend not to go to groups or doctors, which I probably should a bit more as I would get all the up-to-date info, but find it hard to make the time or motivation - maybe I worry it will make me feel more sick or different - who knows?! Had a few problems with bags sticking recently (which I guess is due to weight gain and body shape changes) and saw a stoma nurse yesterday who advised this little ring of putty to mold around the stoma before putting the bag on, and it's amazing. Just shows that we all need to get some help sometime, no matter how long we have had our stomas!!!

Anyway, would love to chat with some of you guys and wish you all the best. We only get one shot at life, so make the most of it
