Well, I woke up this morning expecting to end the day with a Barbie bum, so excited as being a big gal I was never going to have her body, so her bum was the next big thing, and it ain't happened. There I was, sat in the gorgeous gown and my sexy paper knickers on (don't understand why you wear them; you never come back with them on), and the nurse took my temperature, and I have got a fever, so the doctor decided not to operate as it was too risky. GUTTED.

At this point, I was ready to burst into tears (I don't cry), not only because I have wasted all morning in the waiting room, got undressed, and really psyched myself up, but because I know I will have to go through the pre-op all over again, including the horrible pre-op drinks (slightly better than bowel prep but not much). Apparently, they help relax you; all they did to me was make me want to be sick. Plus, it means I won't have my mum running around after me, making me feel like a princess. You wouldn't think I'm 26, would you? But nothing beats my mum's cups of tea. Lol

Thought I'd post this as I have decided to feel sorry for myself, and I know you brilliant guys and gals are the only people that will understand.

Hi Kirsty.. Sorry to hear your op was cancelled. I can relate to how you're feeling as that has happened to me many times. I know whatever anyone tries to console you, it won't make you feel any better. Chin up, girl. My best wishes for your op next time. P.S. Hope you get your Barbie bum.. tc ambies..x

My husband's ostomy nurse recommended the site two years ago. The help and recommendations they have given us is invaluable.

Oh sweetie, I have worn those knickers and that ball gown only for the pumpkin's wheels to fall off and the event to be canceled too. It's cold comfort, I know, but just maybe the doctor was right. Thinking of you, Trish.

So sorry to hear your op was canceled!! It happened to me last year when I had gone in for a parastomal hernia repair. I was given a pill before surgery that they said was to make my bowel wake up better post-op, and it gave me such terrible, intense cramping they thought that maybe my kidney stone was trying to pass. I had done the bowel prep the day before and was about 5 min from being brought into the operating room!!! The doctor decided it was too dangerous to proceed with the surgery since they didn't know what was causing the terrible pain, so I was admitted to the hospital and had to spend the weekend there and was sent home without doing the op. I found out that it was the pill that caused it because it happened again when they decided to try the surgery 3 weeks later, but this time I didn't tell them about the pain, and luckily they brought me into the operating room before the pain got out of control!! I hope things get better for you!! Good luck, Kellie

Hang in there, Kristy. It can only get better once the fever is gone. I'm not sure what you mean by paper knickers, but they don't sound too pleasant. Thinking of you. Best of luck.

Thanks, ladies, I really appreciate it! I must admit, though, I am glad they didn't do the op now, as I have a massive cold, so maybe doctors actually know best. LOL!

Yep, I got to the hospital and saw that look, 'What are you doing here?' I knew too; it happened. I was furious they forgot to call me. Arghhhhhh. Yep, paper knickers. Hahaha, Tess, for some reason, they give you undies that are made of paper. Hahahah, wtf... xxxxxxxx Good luck, Kirsty. I know it's a royal pain in the oops arse. xx

What's the point of paper nickers - what good would they do you?

Hiya Kirsty. So sorry your op was cancelled. You've been waiting a while for it too. Now you will have to get up off your not-so-Barbie bum and make your own cups of tea :-) :-) . Don't let it get you down. They will have you back in no time. Make sure your next op is not on a Saturday night so then you won't have the fever :-)

Thanks, mooza. Exactly, tess, pointless. I suppose it does make it easier for them to rip them off, but such a waste of money. Haha, gizmo, I do get off my not-so-Barbie bum, not to make my cup of tea, though my mum still does that for me. LOL. Hope you're all OK. X

You know there is nothing better than a cuppa cha (tea) from ya mum. Hey Gizy, hope you're doing well now, Moozeeee. Thanks, Kirsty, and you were lucky then, matey; they didn't operate because you were really sick. I actually did go in for an op with a cold, but I hid it. It wasn't one of my best ideas. Wish I was doing better, Darlz. Found a huge hernia; terrified it's kind of made me sick. Arghhh, imagine if you had a Barbie bum, no hole. Lololol xxx

Hey Moooooz. How is my favorite little Didgeridoo? I'm doing okay, thanks. Taking a while, but I'm getting there. Could be back at work in 3 or 4 weeks. Just in time for the snow :-( :-( . Kirsty. Have they said when they will get you back in now? Hope it's not too long.

Can't believe you're going back to work so soon, Gizmo. Bet you can't wait. Ain't told me when the next op will be, but they're trying to get me in really soon! Hope you get better soon, Mooza. P.S. Bring on the snow; I can't wait. Last year I missed it because I was in the hospital (don't think I'd cope with all the Australian sunshine, lol). x
