I had a Barrie Butt operation 8 weeks ago and started chemotherapy last Friday. Infusion of one drug and the second drug in tablet form for 14 days. I am not allowed to touch the tablet, so I put it in an egg cup to take. Feeling fine except for tingling hands and painful salivary glands when starting to eat.

My main question is my output has turned into quite large hard balls. It needs to be helped with massage. Any tips, please?

I did chemotherapy before my surgery. Fluids, as much as you can. That tingling sensation made me drink hot water or hot chocolate for about four months. Once you're done, you'll go back to drinking and eating whatever you want.

I was a fly on the wall for a while, before I joined the group.  I think you will find it's a good bunch of people, who understand what you are dealing with like no one else could.  Glad you found us.

Is the pill Xeloda? If yes, I take that. Side effects include cold sensitivity. No ice, no cold drinks, no cold foods. I wear work gloves to take food out of the freezer. I call it "first bite syndrome." My jaw clenches, and I have to wait a few seconds for it to pass. Taste goes wonky. I've heard sucking on sour candy helps. It might subside in the off week. I'm having chicken nugget output too. It's weird. Uncomfortable. Needs a little massage to help it out, but my stoma surprises me and stretches out. I'm not sure if more liquid, fiber, both, or none will help. This too shall pass, pun intended.
