Multi-tasking me

MULTI-TASKING ME.

I’d like to say before you ask
both why and how I multi-task.
When dealing with an ostomy
it seems quite obvious to me.

First of all there isn’t time
to cogitate on slime and chyme.        (partly digested food)
A stoma will not wait for you
so I find other things to do.

Things done one by one in line
is not like letting them entwine.
There’s many things that you can do
so I will try to list a few.

While my stoma does its thing
I can hum or I can sing.
Or I can simply sit and read
as I see this thing proceed.

Then, whilst I change my stoma bag
is when I’ll also have a fag.
The smoke, as far as I can tell
chokes off some of that awful smell.

And if the smoking’s not enough
I might do some other stuff.
Like write about my ostomy
in prose or maybe poetry.

I tried painting once or twice
but those results were not so nice.
I could not hold the brushes still
because I’m old and shake when ill.

But I can sit and watch T.V.
whilst  - - it comes through my ostomy.
I’ll sometimes see a video
or listen to the radio.

So many things that we can do
whilst we’re waiting for our poo
and if you share your things with me
they may get there in poetry.

The one task I often perform while my ostomy is working is eating! It always seems amazing to me that it's coming and going at the same time. That is true multi-tasking!

Oh, the many things I do

Whilst Seymour's making #2

For instance, I will shop online

When I am forced to bide my time

I surf the web and shop for things

And all the while my stoma sings

I'm happiest when I'm at home

It seems to be my comfort zone

Damn surgeon cut me with his knife

This ostomy has changed my life

There's really nothing I can't do

While my illy takes a poo

My online nickname is just breathe

But(t) on occasion, I tend to seethe

With some music and sunshine

Most my days are just fine

It is easy for one to see

I am just a Withers wanna-be

I seriously doubt that - he's a master. I do enjoy his poems, especially the ones I can relate to and actually understand… Some fly way over my head, and by the time I Google the meaning of a word, it has lost something in the translation! Both Bill and Henry keep me (kept me :( ) somewhat educated, although these days remembering what I have looked up and learned is gone by dinnertime!!! jb
