Hi can anyone advise I had bowel resection 2023  and ileostomy  which went really well

I had reversal  this year which was a lot harder than  having the ileostomy

but now been 10 mths  still have incontinence issues and day were I can go up to 10/12 times a day depending on on what I eat but I’m still getting  pain in my belly as they removed my rectum and created a new one by bringing the colon down

my belly is still tender ! Should this not be better by now ???

Have you consulted with another doctor or surgeon who could review your records? Ten months is a long time.

I've been signed off now!
I've just moved to a new location and only seen my new GP once, and they did not have my records from my previous GP.

So, I'm not really sure what to do now!

MEETANOSTOMATE REVIEW.
I’d like to write a nice review
that might express something quite new.
Then I read previous points of view,
which said the things I wanted to.
I would endorse the things I’ve read
about what other folks have said,
for these are the benefits and things
that joining a site like this can bring.
When I was an initiate, (novice)
it seemed to be appropriate
to express myself in rhyme
as this is how I spend my time.
When contemplating what to write
with contributing to this site,
it seemed to me, my ostomy
could be expressed in poetry.
Thus, when I had something to say,
a rhyme, for me seemed the best way,
for rhymes can often capture stuff
that prose don’t capture quite enough.
I do appreciate the way,
this site lets people have their say
in whatever mode they will
about the things that make them ill.
There are not many forums for
discussing stuff most folks abhor.
So, this site fulfils a small niche,
where angst and problems can unleash.
Where raw emotions can decant,
so, folks feel free to have a rant,
and we can all associate
is something I appreciate.

Do you have a J pouch?  If so, consult with a doctor about "Pouchitis."  You can look it up on the internet too, so you're familiar with this complication.

It's a connected, computer world.  Should be easy for your new GP to retrieve your medical records.

Please post your progress about your reversal symptoms.  It will be a great help to everyone here.

It took me about 2 years to be without severe pain from a total collectomy ileostomy back in 1973.  After 50 something years I still have pain on and off.  The way I deflect from the pain is by working and learning new things.  And singing karaoke is my morphine. When I try to sing I have no pain whatsoever.  This is called deflection, but what do I know, I'm old 😂

Thank you. I don't have a J pouch. My surgeon did say that my bowels will never be the same! Lolo

But I do find as well that I get really foul wind!
My belly still feels big and bloated. I can't lose weight as most fiber gives me bad bowel incontinence, so I stick to a high carb diet. I don't know what is next, but

I keep trying different foods.

So your rectum was removed and colon connected directly to the anus.  The rectum holds stool until it's ready to be expelled from the body.  Without a rectum, you will have increased bowel movements.

You should consult with a Gastroenterologist to see what options are available for you.

G-Day Joanne,

If it gets worse and cannot be fixed, just remember you can always go back to having a stoma.

Learned something again. Pouchitis, good grief!
