Hi all, just asking if anyone who had a Hartman's reversal experienced any problems some time after, like a year, or by that time, is it safe to say the reversal was successful? Got a date coming up and still unsure what way to go as I hope to move to Spain in 2 years, and don't need anything occurring after I've moved.

Regards, Mark

Jonny, you are seeking assurances that can't be promised. You could develop complications after the HR that are ongoing, which could even necessitate a reinstatement of the colostomy years later. Some people have the HR and never look back, while others have ongoing bowel problems, and even some develop hernias. You have to make a decision, hopefully in prayer and consultation with your family, then move on.

A traveler is right. No one can guarantee you anything. And everybody's body is different; how we all react to something or take to heal or are prone to infections or not prone to infection. This is a decision that you need to make for yourself, and do not make a final decision based on others' experiences because it might be different for you. You know deep down inside what is best for you; you know how YOUR body is, and you know YOUR journey so far.

Hi there, I just celebrated the 1-year anniversary of my Hartmann's Procedure reversal on January 30th. I have not had any bowel issues, but I do have a hernia from a bad cough I developed a few days after surgery. As others said - nothing is guaranteed, but personally, I do not regret it despite the hernia. Only you can decide. Best of luck!
