CT Scans vs. X-Rays for Detecting Abdominal Issues

Late last week, I went to a colo rectal Dr.   She put a finger in the stoma and founs nothing there. She did what I think she called a flex sigmoidoscope in the rectum.  There was some minor irritation in rectum.
She ordered a pelvic / abdominal ct scan of pelvis and abdomen, with oral contrast( gastrograffin ) and I.V. contrast.
Plus bloodwork.  A CBC and something else.
Are these type of ct scans as good as, or better than plain film (KUB) xrays?
Are either of these tests very reliable at finding obstructions, and/or if someone is full of stool?
Should I make a note of my past surgical/hospitalization history and past history of what was found in the past on xray and ct scan films?
Sorry, but I am afraid and thinking that I may be heading back to the condition that hospitalized me 1 year ago.
It was thought that I had a partial small bowel obstruction.
If I am feeling worse tomorrow, should I have radiologist call my coco rectal Dr. with a preliminary reading?  If I feel worse tomorrow, should I ask to address my concerns to a nurse?
as I said before, my Drs. are about 70 miles away, and due to the fact we have no car because of a bad accident, I'd have to let Medicaid transport know 48 hours in advance.
Surgeon is way out of area because the one here doesn't take Medicaid.
And if I go to local e.r., they act like I have 3 heads, because I've been to the e.r. a lot in the past. But with no car, there may not be a choice.

Sorry I didn't see your post before.  A CT scan is better than an abdominal x-ray, but more expensive.  The CT scan is how my partial colon obstruction was diagnosed.  I was sent for x-rays first, then a CT scan the same day.  Most likely they will send you for x-ray, then to CT.  Hope you are feeling better.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!
