Happy two months to Leroy the stoma! Yes, two months since the surgery that saved my life and led to me finding out the people who cared when I needed care the most and are there for me as I make my recovery in more ways than one.

I thank those people quite a bit for supporting me, especially after my now-ex-partner walked out on me when I got out of the hospital. I have gratitude coming out of my ears since my world changed for everything that is good: being pain-free, warm sunshine, cool rain, my cats, my bearded dragon, my friends, my home that is my own again, the ability to build up my life to something new and exciting... And so much more! I struggle with anxiety and unhelpful thoughts and worries, but I don't let these take root for long, distracting myself with anything from a little light housework to TV to books to making calls to friends who make me laugh and feel good. I'm doing okay. A lot better than before my surgery and in so many ways!

Thanks for sharing; this is wonderful to hear. You put so much energy into a relationship with someone who was incapable of appreciating it. It's good that you're starting to put that energy into you!

MEETANOSTOMATE REVIEW.
I’d like to write a nice review
that might express something quite new.
Then I read previous points of view,
which said the things I wanted to.
I would endorse the things I’ve read
about what other folks have said,
for these are the benefits and things
that joining a site like this can bring.
When I was an initiate, (novice)
it seemed to be appropriate
to express myself in rhyme
as this is how I spend my time.
When contemplating what to write
with contributing to this site,
it seemed to me, my ostomy
could be expressed in poetry.
Thus, when I had something to say,
a rhyme, for me seemed the best way,
for rhymes can often capture stuff
that prose don’t capture quite enough.
I do appreciate the way,
this site lets people have their say
in whatever mode they will
about the things that make them ill.
There are not many forums for
discussing stuff most folks abhor.
So, this site fulfils a small niche,
where angst and problems can unleash.
Where raw emotions can decant,
so, folks feel free to have a rant,
and we can all associate
is something I appreciate.

Welcome - and thank you for posting - may your life continue to take good turns for the better :-)

Please, what or 'who' is a 'bearded dragon'?

I'm going to say a type of lizard?

Does it really have a "beard"?

The only kind of lizard I am a little familiar with is the Gekko, which has big suckers [feet], and I first encountered one in a butterfly house when it fell off the glass and landed at my partner's feet. He proceeded to pick it up and help it back to a safer place rather than the footwell people were traversing.

Gekko is the common name for a type of lizard belonging to the family Gekkonidae, while Komodo 'dragons' [which I wondered upon] are a type of monitor lizard (Varanus komodoensis). They are distinct species within the larger group of lizards.

Generally, I am not a keen 'lizard' fan, although I found the little colorful Gekko a cute little fellow, albeit handled by my partner and not directly by me.

I am glad that not all humans are averse to our planet's 'dragons.' Here in Wales, our national flag has a dragon in proud display, but rather distinct from the Chinese dragon. Some 'fly' on and off a flagpole, and some do not ;-)

Legends are inspiring. Living creatures are fascinating.

I believe this is a bearded dragon? So cute! As it gets ready to take a digit off!

Cheers for the pic!

Sorry to learn that you are awaiting a game plan with your upcoming apt with your oncologist - best wishes for that!

A bearded dragon is a small reptile from the Australian Outback, very sweet and clever for its size.

Yes, in a way. They inflate and change color in the chin area depending on mood and health, or if they're looking for a partner or getting aggressive towards another creature.

Thanks 606 for the information. I have never had a pet lizard.... sounds like the beginning of a joke!

I love this post, and I love the way it ping-ponged over to lizards and back. 🤣
