Has Anyone Tried OstoForm Flow Assist Flanges?

Good afternoon, friends,

Hopefully, everyone is having a great week so far. 😊

I am curious if anyone has tried the Ostoform flow assist flanges two-piece system? I had already tried the flow assist inserts for regular flanges, so I ordered what I thought were the inserts and ended up with the flanges. I thought, well, cool, but I had to order some bags to go with it. Okay, no problem, that's done. So I get the bags in and used my first flow-assist flange. Initially, I felt great. It's fairly flexible and can get around my issues, but I woke up the next morning and 'Pearl' had left a present. As usual, (I might be weird) I proceeded to massage Pearl's present to inspect what she had brought me. Surprisingly, there was something hard and flexible floating in there. I discovered that it was the flow assist device itself that had detached from the flange. Needless to say, that flange was no longer functional. I don't really know if I want to try again or not. Just wondering if anyone else has tried these and/or experienced any issues?

Thanks

Lisa

I tried the inserts and had problems with them. They were flimsy, and the ring was simply not working for me. I had to put a regular ring under it, and then the inserts seemed to fall out. I eventually gave up on them. Great idea, but execution is lacking.

I just wanted to tell all the users of this site that I really love having the opportunity to express my feelings here. I'm positive that many feel the same. I wish that all here come out of the experience you have here will be like mine. Support and understanding from others with issues similar like each other will help us all and give the relief we all crave, well, I'm selfish. I'm here because I need support. And I find enough here to help in the tough times. Thank you. I really mean it.

Same here, good concept, but it didn't work for me. Now I have a bunch of flanges and pouches that are taking up space. I live near Peoria, Illinois, if anyone is close by. I have tons of stuff I'd love to get rid of! FREE!

Yes, the same thing happened to me with the Flow-assist rings. I think once they get moisture in them, the plastic slide thing comes loose. Great idea, and so needed for someone like me with a recessed stoma. But execution is lacking.

Great idea, still in need of some engineering work. I've talked to them, and they are aware and continuing to revise. Not good for an ileostomy as presently constructed, and not reliable enough at all for anybody at the moment. The idea behind it makes so much sense that I hope they can perfect it, or at least improve it.

We had 2 samples. Our NSWOC put on the first one, and within 18 hours, it leaked. Didn't bother trying the second one. Nice idea, but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm just north of Peoria, used to take extra supplies to the wound center, but they won't accept anymore. Plus, I had to deliver them to the floor that they were located at. I'm talking several boxes; I'm a disabled senior. I was very irritated. Not only did I have to pack them up at home and load them up in the car, but I also had to drive them all the way into Peoria. So I just unloaded them and left them inside the door and told the receptionist that I made arrangements with the Wound Center and they were expecting them.
