Hi

I am new to the site but have been a double bagger for 5 years.

I have come on the site as I am at a loss. My urostomy has always stuck fine apart from the last 6 weeks. There is a gap from my baseplate to the tummy button of an inch. However, the baseplate will continue to lift in that part of the baseplate area near the belly button. I have put weight on, but the stoma nurse says it is not a problem even though it leaks. I am using Hollister flanges as a trial as the salts were not working. I have been in salts for years, and they are fine with my colostomy but not so much now for urostomy. The baseplate got made bigger last week and I still have the same problem. The stoma nurse has tried cutting a bigger hole, which is good, but still the lifting issue. I have tried tons of things, my extra base ring being removed, skin tac. Apart from extender flanges, nothing works. Any ideas, anyone???

A flange belt, perhaps? Those extenders are great, but you need a little pressure on that flange. Magic secret revealed.

For those of you still looking for love after your ostomy... don't give up! One day, when you least expect it, there will be a message in your inbox... always remember that when you're not looking, life has a brilliant way of surprising you with someone in your life you have so much in common with, and either you make a great new friend or you will find the person you were always looking for! I, for one, thank God I found this website... I was in a low place when I first started, and now I've never been happier! ~Traci~

I'm not sure a flange belt is an option for you... it wasn't for me. You may need a custom-made belt that accommodates two stomas. I believe Nu Hope is available there, but talk to your stoma nurse about custom hernia support belts.

I use the Coloplast SenSura Mio on both my ostomies. The base is very flexible, which may help.

Extender flanges seem like a really good option.

My brother-in-law had an issue with a section of skin being shiny, so his barrier didn't stick, and his nurse told him to use New Skin - not sure what brand it is. My sister precut the product ahead of time as he had trouble cutting it. Ask your ostomy nurse for recommendations.

Have you tried using a convex base plate? I found the deep convex Sensura Mio saves the day for me with my uneven area that my stoma is in. It helps prevent leaking and pancakes for my situation. I hope you find a solution ASAP and have bags you're confident in their ability to work. It makes such a huge difference!
