Hubz thought he might have a leak the other day and it was hard to tell. We wanted to lift that side of the wafer to peek underneath but were unsure whether it would seal again.

Seemed risky, so we changed out everything.
There was no leak starting so we're left wondering if the wafer would seal again after lifting one side. In this case it would've prevented a full change of a day-old appliance.

It's like a lucky draw sometimes the wafer will stick back down and last for days other times lose all the adhesive....I have loose output so often when sleeping the weight of the output will pull the opposite side of the wafer off 9 times out of 10 I can just push the wafer back down hold my hand over for a minute and job done then another night it will need a bag change.

Hello fellow ostomates, my life has changed since I met this wonderful French Canadian lady on this site on 3-17-2013. We were married on 12-20-2014 in Phoenix, AZ.

Ben, slow down n stop fluids a few hours before bedtime. If your mouth is dry take a sip before sleeping or to take night meds with. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast will thicken your output as well. I’m a nurse and ileostomate for 21 years. You may already know this info to thicken output but to decrease output overnight I suggest the above. Hope it helps.

I don't think it would seal again without some help. Torbot Bonding Cement for ostomies would help reseal the wafer. Or you could use a wafer extender if you don't peal it back too far. Usually though I have found that it won't seal back properly on it's own once you peal it off.

I use a wafer extender when it happens to me, as Infinity suggested.

Mine usually stay very well adhered but one time I had to reposition it. After pulling it back, I wet my skin with more barrier film (Cavilon), let it dry a few seconds, and the wafer went back down fine. It bothers me when I only get a day or two out of a new appliance due to a application error.
