Hi everyone!

I joined this forum recently in search of people to talk to who have already been through a reversal of the colostomy bag. I myself have undergone the first part of the reversal, and i'm due to have the second part at the begining of june. I'm looking for advice on ways to prepare for this, mentally and physically!

I also welcome any questions people may have about what i have gone through so far and advice

I think you will find several points of interest - just that no one has addressed them to you -- I cannot do a reversal but I know there are many happy results -- Good luck and if you don't get the info you need by reading the blogs - hit the site again!

Geekyjen,

Thanks for the reply.  I will be seeing my doctor on Friday and mention Entyvio.  I did not remain paralyzed for more than 2 days, but it was terrible and I was so scared.  The doctors just used alot of xanax and other drugs like that to UN paralyze my joints that were being attacked by the remicade.  Turns out I have been diagnosed with LUPUS. It is attacking my nervous system.  I had ulcerative colitis in 1996 and they had to remove my colon.  Had a J pouch for 10 years, until it started failing.  I then got a permanent iliosomy, and I suffer from severe chronic diareha, and I dehydrate frequently.  I recently had a proctectomy, and that is when the new autoimmune disorder, Lupus, appeared.  I have had two hospital stays now because of the blisters and the paralyzing incident.  I will be dealing with this forever now.  I have just been working on acceptance.

I love this website because of wonderful people like you!

Hi there!! I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. You can check out my profile and view old posts for my version of a two phased colostomy reversal. Things that come to mind: soft butt wipes, extra extra soft toilet paper, butt paste (for babies) and patience. Learning to poo again takes patience with yourself. Go slow. Relax. It will be painful at times, but that first bit of flatulence is a joy!!! Ha ha. A few days at home and I was constipated. Normal. A few weeks later I was back to work, enjoying life. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Happy to help walk you through this important step in your life!

I agree with you about the wipes and cream, they are definately a must! i havent been eating much atall so bowel movements havent been overly frequent but im sure when my appetite returns fully this will change!
