Live Life Fully and Enjoy Every Day

Living fully and staying active with a colostomy is all about embracing life with a positive attitude and a sense of adventure. One person shared their journey of doing just that, highlighting how they managed to enjoy life even with the ups and downs that come with having a colostomy. They spent a month at their daughter's house, which was a new environment, and found that taking care of their colostomy was quite manageable. Here are some of the exciting things they did during their trip:

- Tried downhill skiing for the first time, successfully completing a run and then enjoying an evening of snow tubing.
- Went on lots of walks, dined out, and toured the Hershey chocolate plant.
- Played energetically with their granddaughter, feeling more vigorous than ever.

Inspired by these experiences, they are now planning more adventures, like spring white-water rafting and a summer canoe trip. Their message is clear: life after ostomy surgery can be full of rich and adventurous experiences. It's not just about saying you'll live life to the fullest—it's about getting out there and doing it!

Here are some pieces of advice and insights shared by others:

1. Many people agree that having a positive, "glass-half-full" mindset can significantly improve life with an ostomy.
2. Understanding and acting on the belief that happiness and an active lifestyle are possible after surgery can help you feel ready to embrace life's opportunities.
