2nd Operation Cancelled.

This topic is about a person who was scheduled for a stoma-reversal surgery, which unfortunately got canceled for the second time due to the unavailability of an ICU bed. Here's a bit more detail and some advice shared by others:

- The person arrived early in the morning for their surgery, which had already been postponed once before. After going through all the pre-operation checks, they waited for eight hours only to be told that the surgery was canceled again because there was no ICU bed available in time.

- Although a bed eventually became available, it was too late as the operating theatre had been reassigned. The surgeon assured them that the surgery would be rescheduled soon, either later in the week or the following week.

- The person expressed frustration about the hospital's scheduling system, questioning why surgeries are planned so far in advance when ICU availability is so uncertain. They suggested that it might be better to schedule surgeries only once a bed is confirmed.

- After a long, exhausting day without food, they decided to treat themselves to fish and chips on the way home and are now waiting for a call from the hospital secretary.

- The person has been advised that stress might have contributed to their condition, so they try to manage their stress by venting privately rather than causing a scene at the hospital.

Here are some pieces of advice and insights shared by others:

1. Many people expressed empathy, acknowledging how frustrating it is to wait all day only to have the surgery canceled again. They hope the surgery is rescheduled soon and that the recovery goes smoothly.

2. One person suggested that the surgeon should have ensured an ICU bed was available and recommended finding a doctor who will advocate more strongly to prevent such cancellations in the future.
