Celebrating 3 Weeks Post-Op with a New Piercing and Plans

This topic is about someone who is celebrating life just three weeks after having a permanent ileostomy surgery. After dealing with a failed J-pouch and years of hospital visits, they are now feeling much better and are excited about the future. Here are some highlights and advice from their journey:

- Celebration: They went out with friends for a student night and got their nose pierced, something they had always wanted to do but couldn't because of frequent hospital stays.

- Reflection: Just a few weeks ago, they were feeling down after being told their pouch would never work and experiencing a breakup. Now, with support from an online community and a new relationship, they feel positive about the future.

- Forward plans:
1. Returning to college on October 31st.
2. Resuming driving lessons, getting a car, and regaining independence.
3. Working part-time to save money for travel, with Tennessee as the first destination.

- Take-away message: They don't regret trying the J-pouch but are relieved to have a permanent ileostomy, which has removed their pain and given them their life back.

Additional advice and insights include:

- Body piercing after surgery:
1. Wait at least 12 weeks without any planned surgeries before getting a piercing.
2. The pain from a piercing is minimal compared to frequent blood tests.

- Emotional recovery and relationships:
1. Break-ups during illness can be tough, but new, understanding relationships can form. Stay open to support from those who understand your situation.

- Attitude and motivation:
1. Keeping a positive outlook and setting goals like returning to college, driving, traveling, and working can help speed up recovery and boost morale.
2. Blogging and sharing progress can be beneficial for both the writer and readers, so keep sharing updates.

- Inspiration to others:
1. Many people find their courage and quick progress inspiring, especially for young people adjusting to life with an ostomy.
