The importance of sharing

This topic is about encouraging ostomates to share information about the Meet an Ostomate (MaO) website with medical professionals and new ostomates. MaO is a supportive online community that offers valuable information and a sense of connection for those living with an ostomy. Here are some key points and advice related to promoting MaO:

1. Many ostomates have discovered MaO by chance, highlighting the need for more awareness and publicity.
2. It's important to inform surgeons, G.I. doctors, and stoma/WOC nurses about MaO, as some medical professionals are still unaware of it.
3. Some nurses already provide resource sheets that include MaO, but others do not, which shows the importance of spreading the word.
4. Writing a review on MaO is encouraged to help others learn about the community:
- You can try selecting "Write a review under Collections" if available.
- If the option isn't visible, use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the homepage or reach out to the administration directly.
- Posting a review might require a paid membership.
5. Nurses familiar with MaO find it invaluable because it allows patients to learn from others who are living with an ostomy.
6. Members emphasize the site's role in emotional healing, normalizing life with an ileostomy or colostomy, and offering practical, real-world tips.
7. Additional support resources include:
- Facebook ostomy support groups.
- The Ostomy Canada website for initial information.
- Local UOAA chapters, although MaO is not listed on the UOAA site.
