Abdominal Pain Years After Ileostomy Surgery

This topic is about someone experiencing abdominal pain many years after having ileostomy surgery. The pain started in January 2016, 47 years after the surgery, and is described as intermittent with an intensity ranging from 0 to 6. It is located along part of the original incision scar, away from the stoma. Sitting for long periods makes it worse, while lying down helps relieve it. Over-the-counter pain relievers like Advil and Tylenol provide some relief. The person has been advised to consider or avoid treatments like acupuncture and myofascial massage and is looking for more advice.

Here are some helpful insights:

1. If the pain persists or worsens, it is important to have it evaluated by a qualified Enterostomal Therapy (ET) nurse or a similar ostomy specialist. A professional assessment is crucial before trying any alternative treatments.
