Antibiotic-Induced Yeast Infections: A Solution That Worked for Me

This topic is about dealing with yeast infections that can occur after taking antibiotics, especially for those with ostomy-related issues. One person found a successful remedy using boric acid vaginal suppositories. Here’s a summary of their experience and some helpful tips:

- After trying various treatments, including a month-long course of Diflucan, the person found relief from a persistent Candida infection by using NutraBlast Boric Acid Vaginal Suppositories. These are available on Amazon for under $20.
- The treatment involved inserting one 600 mg capsule vaginally each night for 10 days, which completely cleared the infection. A recent Pap smear confirmed the infection was gone.
- It’s important to note that boric acid should be used vaginally for this type of infection; it is not effective if placed in an ostomy pouch.
- While the person also takes vitamin C and other supplements, these alone did not resolve the infection.
- Pharmacy-compounded boric acid suppositories are effective but can be costly, often over $100. An alternative is to buy empty capsules and fill them with boric acid powder, which costs under $10 and works just as well.
- Creating an acidic environment can help suppress yeast growth. Some people have found that increasing their oral vitamin C intake helps, as it aligns with the boric acid method of lowering pH levels.
