Living with ARMs and Seeking Understanding Friends

This topic is about someone who was born with a condition called imperforate anus/anorectal malformations (ARMs) and has been living with both a colostomy and a urostomy since birth. They also had a kidney transplant at the age of 15. While they lead a generally normal life, they sometimes feel the need for friends who truly understand what it's like to live with stomas and won't judge them. They are planning to become a full member of a forum to make new, supportive friends.

Here are some pieces of advice and insights shared by others:

1. Many members warmly welcomed the person, highlighting that the community is a place of non-judgmental understanding, shared experiences, and supportive conversations.

2. Members emphasized the importance of connecting with others who have stomas to share knowledge and encouragement. They suggested that the forum’s general chat is a great place to start building those relationships.
