Very helpful

I always use M9 in my bag and one of the ostomy odor eliminator sprays. Spray the air before you empty. Gentell Ease Odor Eliminator. I also change my bag every other day because the longer I wear it, the smells become stronger in and around the bag, and nothing reduces the smell. The Gentell Ease Odor Eliminator is cheap, about $3.00 for a 2 oz bottle from an internet ostomy shop. Do not buy from Amazon; it is nearly $8.00 a bottle.
Cheap and it does the job!

Can you share which company actually makes these drops?

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!

Someone here suggested a candle. I tried it, and it works. The various sprays seemed to replace the bad odor with their own.
I use one of those jars with wax and a wick. It sits on the back of the toilet, lit up when I am emptying or changing. I let it burn for 15 minutes or so afterwards. When emptying the pouch, I flush the toilet several times … that helps as well.
