I'm interpreting "melting" as the wafer getting saturated with output. The interior edge of my rings does this sometimes, and I could see why someone would call it melting.
To me, this indicates a slow leak and a problem with the application or appliance selection.
I would pass blame on the stoma itself. Not the prep. My stoma is flat; it protrudes only 20 mm at best, and it is now the size of a urethra. My GI system creates intense pressure due to the tiny orifice that food passes through.
