Kyle, according to your profile, you have a colostomy; therefore, your risks of blockage are much less than those of ostomates with an ileostomy.

I have a loop colostomy, which is a good thing, as I tried asparagus and there was a hunk of wood sticking out of one of my holes - really interesting finding out I actually have two holes in my stoma. Having a bit of a colon seems to help in a lot of ways. So much of this experience is trial and error with lots of luck. Thanks for sharing.

Well it's just coming upto a year since I had my emergency stoma. Since joining MAOM I have learnt all different kinds of ideas to help with the stoma. Not only that I have made a lot of good friends who I can talk to. The beauty of this site is it's not just giving tips and ideas we talk about anything and everything. So thank you for giving us a great site. XX

I eat beans regularly these days and have no issues. Yeah, maybe a little more gas, but nothing excessive. I ate a lot of beans before developing Crohn's, though, so perhaps my digestive system is used to them (although I did stop eating them when my Crohn's was bad, as they didn't agree with me when my gut was messed up!).

I don't think that picture is intended to be representative of a meal for one person; it's just an illustration of one healthy dish that you would presumably eat alongside other items and would probably share with other people! Although occasionally, I have been known to eat a relatively large portion of beans, and I was fine.
