For years I've been using Cavilon No Sting Barrier wipes around the stoma so that, in case of any leakage, my skin is protected.  It works.  But today I discovered what appears to be an identical product from another company that is substantially less expensive.  The price for the Cavilon product has been increasing steadily.  Today I saw that the box of 25 wipes that I have been using is now up to $19.59 from one seller.  While the prices vary, that is about on a par with other places for that particular product.  The new product I've now ordered is:  Safe n' Simple No Sting Barrier film, box of 25, $7.99.  I'll report later on them once I've used them.

Big difference in price, especially when they do the same job. Basically, we're paying for the name, not the actual product. Keep us posted, Henry, on how you get on xx

Good find, Henry! It's rare to find a knock-off that's as good as the original for a lot less...but it happens. Sometimes the big boys get a little too big for their britches and think they can just keep raising prices, not knowing they're opening the door for innovative young upstarts to possibly steal their thunder. It'll be interesting to hear how they perform. When I bought the Cavilon wipes a couple of months back to give them a try, I was surprised by how much they cost...but figured it was due to the COVID shortages of everything...and once things calmed down and production caught back up, that prices would drop back. But I'm seeing that's not the case with most stuff. Guess they figure if they raised their prices and people kept buying it...they'll pay the higher price...so why reduce it? I hope they work!

I use the Safe n Simple wipes. The Cavilon irritated my skin.

UPDATE ON NO-STING BARRIER FILM:  It's too soon for me to comment on whether or not the SafeNSimple product is as effective as the Cavilon.  But I can comment on one aspect of the comparison.  The Cavilon, the expensive ones, are about the size of a postage stamp and that's plenty large enough to wipe the film around the stoma easily.  The SafeNSimple, when I took it out the first time this morning, is much larger, folding over multiple times.  I ended up not only NOT unfolding it but doubling it over to make it a more manageable size to use.  When I later unfolded the thing, it was about the size of a tissue, much larger than necessary.  But, still, substantially, significantly, importantly, a much less expensive product.  So, assuming (at this point) that it is providing similar skin protection to the Cavilon product, I would tend to deal with the relatively clumsy large size in order to save the money.
