Hello all, I'm Geoff, just feeling alone wondering if I will ever find someone to share life with, who has a urostomy and knows how hard it is day to day.

So many ostomates feel the same way. Keep living your best life and hopefully, you'll find someone along the way.

Hi Deb,

As you can see, the outpouring of love and support from this website will help you to find the strength to lift yourself up and out of your current emotional situation. I am lucky to have my husband by my side through all of this, so I will not even pretend to know how you feel and what you're going through alone. I do know that I have great friends on this site and in my life that have been by my side, and hopefully you have many by your side as well. You do have a lot of new friends here. Please feel free to talk through anything that is on your mind. We all go through a confidence deficit when we go through an ostomy surgery. Our body has been marred and your mind feels that way sometimes too. It is tough to move on, but you will. You will be stronger once you realize that you are still the beautiful woman you were prior to your surgery. Hopefully, you can reach out to a local support group and find some additional friends in your same situation. It always helps to have a sounding board wherever you find it!

Hey Geoff, sharing with us is a good start. Lots of us have been where you are. Things get better for us as we learn from other’s experiences and our own experimentations. Folks here are wise, caring, compassionate and mostly experienced. You’re in a good place.
I think you got good advice from WIGirl77.
Respectfully,
Mike

Hi Geoff,

I am now 73 years of age and have had my ostomy since I was 15 -- 58 years. I am now with my second husband for 38 years and have an active, wonderful sexual relationship. I found that finding a person who knows about ostomies and isn't upset by them is important. I was careful to let anyone I was getting close to in a romantic way know what was going on with my body. I never had any problems, but I was very careful who I encountered! Best to you, Marilyn

You should just live; your love will find you.
