After being hospitalized for stent removal/infection, I had an amazing wound ostomy nurse. She put me on a 2-piece high-output system, and I am 48 hours leak-free. The skin is healed, and I am no longer afraid to eat or drink. That led me down a path of dehydration, so I needed fluids during my stay as well, but overall, I feel like I can do this now. The Convatec skin barrier was also a life-changing recommendation! The before and after are attached.

This site has been a blessing for me in learning how to cope with and navigate this journey as an ostomate. I have a colostomy as a result of a perforation in my colon since May of this year. I don't know yet if it will be permanent or reversible. The people on here have provided me with so much advice and information about living with an ostomy that I don't think I could get anywhere else. You all have given me hope and a place to come to for support. I still struggle with acceptance, but know that it will come if I am patient. Patience has never been my strong suit! Also, I love all the humor, although it really pissed me off when I first came on here. Thanks to all of you.

Very helpful

It's always something to celebrate when you find what works... I was never told about other ostomy supplies that could help with leaks... Just reading posts on here helped a lot. I now have been using Sure Seal Rings and wearing my base plate like a diamond instead of a square like I was taught, and this has helped so much since I have a huge midline scar all the way up and down my stomach. I rarely ever have leaks anymore.

I have been using Coloplast 1 pc high output bags for 2 months now... What a difference! Almost no leaks and no blowouts at 3 a.m.! I sleep better too! Wish I had found these earlier in my journey! God bless!
