Tue Mar 01, 2022 7:44 pm
"This is the best website for people with an Ostomy, hands down. So much understanding. Everyone should join."

I had so much fun with HenryM’s post about ‘Walking’ songs I thought we could name ‘Train’ songs next. 🎶 🚂

Here are some to get us started. 🤩
‘Last Train to Clarksville’ by The Monkees
‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ by Gladys Knight & the Pips
‘Midnight Train to Memphis’ by Kid Rock
‘Slow Train’ by Bob Dylan
‘Peace Train’ by Cat Stevens
‘Night Train’ by Jason Aldean

I'll stay out of this one, dealing with trains all the time kinda ruins the glamour that most see as being on a train.

That's about par for the course. I just waited 3hrs for engines off another train to be able to take our train to where we need to go. Now, we're waiting for another train to get out of the way so we can actually move.

Johnny Cash, there was a big music jamboree and Johnny was singing “there is a train a coming” and just when he was in the middle of the song a train did come a rolling down the tracks. Everyone cheered. Best time ever.

"This is the night mail" - WH Auden - YouTube
This famous poem hasn’t got ‘trains’ specifically in the title, but it has always been one of my favourites and has stood the test of time.

One could almost view it as a precurser to rap.

Best wishes
Bill

One ...

I had no idea something like this existed. It's really interesting. I can't put a finger on why, but it reminds me of the twilight zone, or Alfred Hitchcock movies. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

I'm curious what you think of the film 'Unstoppable' about a runaway train.  Very exciting, but probably not realistic, I suppose.

Long Train Runnin'  Doobie Bros

Do you want me to ruin the movie for you? 😁 Or is not very realistic good enough? I've watched it a few times and yes, it's exciting.

Lonnie Donegan is more my era, and I'm sure he had a few 'train' songs:

Rock Island line

This train

Cumberland gap

Wabash cannonball

Railroad Bill

Anything by Johnny Cash reminds me of a train, the way he plays his guitar just sounds like a locomotive to me!
