I have an ulcer under my appliance. It is extremely painful. My E.T. has given me instructions on what to do. and how to change it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try to keep the area clean and dry.  It should clear up quickly.  I've had similar issues in the past.

Take care.

Last year I had a small ulcer (about one inch diameter) that sat about one inch under my stoma.  I used a product made by Convatec called Aquacel Ag extra (silver) dressing.  I left it on the ulcer (cut to fit to lie outside the edge of the ulcer) for 3-4 days and changed the dressing when I changed my appliance.  It healed completely within a couple of months.  It also helped as pain relief immediately on application.   It's a felt-like dressing which is easy to use and cut to fit, and you can place your base-plate straight over it or as extra protection place a hydrocolloid dressing over the Aquacel and then the base.  I believe it's available world-wide including Canada as it's made by Convatec.  It is quite expensive but in my opinion well worth it (just for the pain relief alone).

I hope you and your ET find a solution.  I know how painful these ulcers can be.
