What kind of paper towels do you use to clean the stoma?

Whatever is on the counter. They are like half sheets. I tear off 8 of them on a pile, then cut them in half and wet one pile, while the other pile is dry. Works well.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!

I know this doesn't answer your specific question but I used washcloths until I started just taking a shower with no pouch on. Now, I hardly ever use a washcloth except when I'm laying around bagless letting everything air out and have the washcloth just in case. If I were to use paper towels, it'd be the cheapest I could find since I'm just gonna throw them away.

TP 3X2 first one folded in half, second one folded in half and half again, third one folded in half then in thirds. I think paper towels may plug the toilet. If you do not get it 100% clean, it does not matter because that is what it is meant to do. This is what I do for a bag change. When I change out everything and after a naked shower, I use a washcloth to dry it well before putting new stuff on.

I use 'Viva Signature Cloth' paper towels when cleaning around the stoma. I only use them when changing my wafer (which is every four days for me now) and generally only need 2-3 half-sheets, so they last a very long time.

I just use toilet paper... wet and clean gently... and dry with another sheet of toilet paper.

I change my appliance every other day and shower with no bag on - I LOVE the no bag shower day - I think my stoma loves it too and I know my skin loves it. I use toilet paper to wipe around the stoma before I get into the shower. No bag shower day is much better than the shower day with the bag on - at least for me.

That's what I use, toilet paper. Away goes poo down the drain.

I use two sheets of toilet paper wet, then two more to dry, and they go in the commode.
