DISINVEST.

I ponder on the reasons why
some people come, then say goodbye.
I wonder if we fail some test
and people simply disinvest.

I sometimes sit and contemplate
what people like and what they hate
or whether it’s that we don’t chime
that prompts them to withdraw their time.

It puzzles me to think that we
are coping with an ostomy,
so hope that somehow we can be
helpful, careful, yet carefree.

I hardly know where to begin
about the time that folks put in
to make this site a friendly place
and give us osto’s our own space.

It is an investment that may
help us all to have our say
by vents and rants of any sort
and events by which we’re caught.

We come on here to get support
hence, I feel that we all ought
to invest the best that we
can before we up and flee.

I like to see people come back
after they’ve given us the sack,
as that shows we did something good
or, at least we did the best we could.

Some people simply disinvest
to have themselves a little rest
then, they may reinvest someday
as if they’ve never been away.

And in addition, I'd like to say

I hope Henry returns one day

To share his views and his fables

Bringing chuckles to our tables

If he is just hiding incognito

Then I'd like to let him know

Understanding you deserved a respite

But we're all now getting desperate

And trying to figure out

What your vacation was about

Here's hoping you are just being lazy

And to let you know you're missed like crazy!

MeetAnOstoMate website turned out to be a lifesaver for me. I say this because, for me, this ostomy journey was a devastating event both physically and mentally.
Here, I found folks who understood my feelings even better than my family or friends could. Only a fellow ostomate can understand how you really feel.

Information sharing is key, as well as support and understanding, to ultimately bring more harmony into our ostomy life journey. I found here, virtually no ostomy questions that are not touched upon. Questions which some might feel, may be too trivial to contact a doctor about or even too shy or embarrassed to ask their own doctor about. They are all addressed here.

For me, anonymity was very helpful in seeking answers to each phase of this life changing medical and mental event. Sharing initial trauma feelings, ongoing support and finally acceptance was what I found with my membership here. I am not sure what my mental and physical attitude would be today without having found this site.

Additional benefits included: finding products and ideas to help with daily maintenance, innovative ideas and as a bonus - some great humor.
After all “laughter IS the best medicine”.

I have been a member for 3 years, an ostomate for 4 years - yes, I certainly wish I would have found it immediately after surgery but so very thankful I finally found it when I did as I truly believe it turned my troubled depression and situation into a more positive attitude and acceptance.

Sincerely,
An Ileostomate nicknamed Justbreathe 🫶🏼

I'm with you on this JB
but I guess we'll have to wait and see
if Henry will return one day
and have a great deal more to say.
