DISTORTION 4. –IMMANENT DEATH.
Sometimes I think I’m gonna die
so, in this rhyme I’ll tell you why
because I think it’s relevant,
important, and pertinent.
My guts have never worked too well
and, as far as I can tell
the problems are just getting worse
so, I just write them down in verse.
The chronic pain has got to be
one of the worst of things for me,
because it takes away my breath
and makes me feel so close to death.
Some years ago, it got so bad
that, with some surgery, I had
a stoma to help manage it
and bag-up all my wayward shit.
But pain has never gone away
and sometimes it comes everyday
so, as it’s gone on for so long
it makes me think there’s something wrong.
Sometimes the pain is so severe
I wish I was no longer here,
for if this is what life’s about
then maybe it’s time I was out.
But, this thinking needs some caution
because it maybe a distortion
of the facts surrounding pain
and what it does within the brain.
Quite often when my pain is strong
and I don’t know what may be wrong,
my thinking comes straight from my heart
but stinking pain comes from a fart.
The moral of this tale is such,
that maybe I do think too much!
