Hey, for Coloplast users, are you guys finding holes and pinholes in your bags? The past 6 months, I noticed they changed their plastic (gotten thinner), and literally every order I have gotten has either big holes or pinholes all over the bag. I call Coloplast, they replace them, and I send the others back, but even the replacements will have holes. Anyone else having the same issues?

Two things you never, ever want to hear they have pinholes in:

Stoma bags. 👎

Condoms. 👎

Hi Mike and all. I am not sure how panoramic my perspective really is as my peripheral vision shrinks with each passing year. I can tell you that when I came to this website six years ago I was truly ;impressed by the positive attitudes of so many members, especially the younger folks who refused to let their ostomies define who they were or what they would become. I also came to appreciate that having an ostomy is not the same thing as having a disease. Pardon ;my pun now, but ostomies and cancer don't belong in the same bag. One is a solution, the other is a problem. Celebrating National Ostomy Day ;is also well outside my comfort zone. That's like celebrating National Wheel Chair Day. Come on!

I think there is a ;need for improved ;public awareness of ostomies, but I am not sure how that's best done. There ;remains ;some social stigma attached to our situation, and it's acutely felt among our young. We need to get out of the dark ages on this issue, but not by going 'in your face' to everyone else. I think Bill and NDY are 'spot-on' when it comes to telegraphing the right message to friends and family. People will know how to react when they ;see ;how we accept the cards we were dealt. I also appreciate the contribution some people here are making to this effort through their publications.

On a personal note, my son has been suffering from ulcerative colitis for years just like I did. I am very concerned because people with UC are at a higher risk for colon cancer. Years ago my GI told me to get annual colonoscopies to be on the safe side. I am glad I did because he eventually found pre-cancerous cells which led to several surgeries and my becoming an ostomate. Since then I have always ;conveyed a positive attitude to ;my son about wearing a bag because it has kept me alive to enjoy many more years with my loved ones. I think he got the message. We both go to the same gastroenterologist in NYC and get scoped on the same day. Father and Son moments!

Someone once wrote that our children are the letters we write to the future.

If they know they have a problem, then get them to pay for the two dresses, Kitty. Beth, change products, get samples of a few, and see which is best. I have Hollister, but I have never had a hole in them. Regards, IGGIE.

Alex, I would if I could. I am allergic to every other brand, and I've been trying again the past couple of months since this issue has started. I can't use tape borders, which 90 percent of them have, and then the wafers I am allergic to, and the dermadhesive doesn't stay on my skin at all. So I'm pretty much sunk.

Wish I could, unfortunately, I am super highly allergic to Hollister and allergic to every other brand as well. Then again, of course, I would be the complex and complicated one lol 😆

Isn't that the truth 🤣

I haven't. I'm guessing a bad batch, QC, or something. Maybe try getting from a different supplier? Which one do you use? I use the Sensura Mio 1 piece opaque.

That's what I thought the first time it happened. A replacement got sent straight from Coloplast and the replacement box had the same issue, and a new reply got sent for the replacement and still happened and another replacement and again and it's been happening for 6 months. I'm using the Sensura Mio 1 piece transparent.

This has been driving me crazy. The same thing happened to me with the last box I had. Three out of ten were bad. I didn't notice until after I had them on, though, but I was lucky and I noticed after a few drops. Talk about unfair. I went through and there was another one like that, a clean slit down the side of the bag. I use the same kind. This really sucks. I like this product.

I would have preferred if I was alone on this one because it must mean there is a larger issue since we are in different countries and having the same issue. I thought maybe it was an isolated one.

Right... it has been so irritating and stressful. It keeps happening too, this last month supply an entire box holes. We shouldn't have to worry about that. Did you call Coloplast and have them resend you bags? Call and tell them, maybe they will take it more seriously and realize someone somewhere isn't doing something right.

Has this been resolved in the last six months? I've been using Hollister products for over a decade, but I've been curious to give Coloplast a try (especially with the rotatable two-piece systems). I don't want to jump into a situation like this though!

You can call and ask for samples to see if you like them and if they work for you. As far as the other question goes, I am probably not the right person to ask, lol. I keep finding holes in the bags; some are small pinholes, and others are bigger, like a pencil-sized tip.

I can only use Coloplast too because of skin allergies. I haven't had any bags with large holes, and I honestly can't see any pinholes, but there must have been because I randomly get leaks that seem to seep through the bag, at the top (even with filter stickers on, which is what Coloplast suggested I try), or it seems to seep out the back. Very frustrating. My husband suggested filling the bag with water before attaching it. I may do that with all the bags in a box, and then make sure they are well and truly dry before using.

Hey Dawn. If you tilt the bag a little toward the light, you will be able to see them. With you having the same issue, please call and tell them. I have been trying to get them to fix this issue for over a year now. Hopefully, the more people that are having this issue call and tell them, the more they will listen and actually try to fix the issue.

Hi B,

Man, that really sucks. I checked to see if Coloplast is BBB accredited and they're not, so no use complaining there. Did a Google search for 'Coloplast bags holes' and got nothing worth mentioning. So here's what I'd do. Go to Coloplast's site and scroll to the bottom. There you'll find links to their sites on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X). Go to each and blow up their posts. Every time they put up a new post... comment on it saying how bad the bags are and post a pic. That will get their attention very quickly, as they can't block you and they can't take down your comments. Squeaky wheel gets the grease!
