Hey everyone... I just joined the group because I had a stoma revision 4 days ago, which was good... Now I'm home and I'm having excruciating burning pain in my lower abdomen just below my stoma site. If I'm sitting, it's fine, but as soon as I stand or try to walk somewhere, the pain drops me to my knees! Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what the heck did you do to help the pain? (My pain meds aren't touching the pain!)

Thank you all,

B

Call your doctor/surgeon. Pain is not natural. If you can't get in to see the doctor right away, go to the emergency room.

Happy New Year to all!  One of the best things that happened in 2024 was finding this site.  I get advice, support, humor from y’all.  Great to be a part of such a kind and caring group.

I agree with BB, get to the doctor. If the pain is dropping you to your knees, go to the emergency room ASAP. Please check back in with us.

Just saw this… could be a possibility.

This pain is often due to intercostal nerves caught in scar tissue or even stitched when the surgeon closes the site. This can lead to irritation and inflammation that produces a burning or stabbing sensation in the area of the colostomy site.

KK - a possibility - but still follow up with your Surgical Team

Good luck
